His father played in two Hawthorn premierships in the 80's, but Tom Curran's dad Peter isn't his only football connection.

In fact, the key-position prospect's links with North Melbourne make his new club a perfect fit.

"If there was a family-son rule I'd probably be coming here," Curran told kangaroos.com.au on Tuesday.

"Dad's uncle was a life member here - Bat Curran. He was on the selection committee and played a couple of reserves games here back in the day.

"Dad's brother was the statistician for (Ron) Barassi. All dad's family.. he's got six sisters and five brothers and they are all mad North supporters."

With that in mind, there's little wonder Curran was delighted to be drafted to Aegis Park.

"It's in Melbourne. I know Mum's happy."
