The AFL wishes to advise the Tribunal will sit tonight at 5pm, Tuesday April 8, after the Gold Coast’s Steven May and Greater Western Sydney’s Devon Smith chose to contest the sanctions laid by the Match Review Panel from the weekend’s matches. Steven May, Gold Coast, has been charged with a Level One Engaging in Rough Conduct Offence (125 demerit points, one-match sanction) for engaging in rough conduct against Dayne Zorko, Brisbane, during the first quarter of the Round Three match between the Gold Coast SUNs and Brisbane, at Metricon Stadium on Saturday April 5, 2014.

Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Brisbane Football Club, the incident was assessed as negligent conduct (one point), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of four activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level One Offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has an existing bad record of 64.06 demerit points carried over within the last 12 months, increasing the penalty to 189.06 points and a one-match sanction.

Devon Smith, Greater Western Sydney, has been charged with a Level Two striking offence (125 demerit points, one-match sanction) for striking Bernie Vince, Melbourne, during the second quarter of the Round Three match between Greater Western Sydney and Melbourne, played at Spotless Stadium on Sunday April 6, 2014.

Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Melbourne Football Club, the incident was assessed as intentional conduct (three points), low impact (one point) and body contact (one point). This is a total of five activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level Two Offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has an existing bad record of 68.75 demerit points carried over within the last 12 months, increasing the penalty to 193.75 points and a one-match sanction.

Matt Thomas, Richmond, has accepted a reprimand for engaging in rough conduct against Ryan Griffen, Western Bulldogs, during the third quarter of the Round Three match between Richmond and the Western Bulldogs, played at Etihad Stadium on Saturday April 5, 2014.

Josh Jenkins, Adelaide, has accepted a $900 sanction for making negligent contact with umpire Brendan Hosking during the second quarter of the Round Three match between Adelaide and the Sydney Swans, at Adelaide Oval on Saturday April 5, 2014.

Brandon Matera, Gold Coast, has accepted a one-match sanction for engaging in rough conduct against Jed Adcock, Brisbane, during the second quarter of the Round Three match between the Gold Coast SUNS and Brisbane, at Metricon Stadium on Saturday April 5, 2014.

Daniel Merrett, Brisbane, has accepted a two-match sanction for striking David Swallow, Gold Coast, during the fourth quarter of the Round Three match between Brisbane and the Gold Coast SUNS, played at Metricon Stadium on Saturday April 5, 2014.

Taylor Adams, Collingwood, has accepted a one-match sanction for engaging in rough conduct against Joel Selwood, Geelong, during the fourth quarter of the Round Three match between Collingwood and Geelong, played at the MCG on Saturday April 5, 2014.
