ROSS Lyon has identified his side's goalkicking as a key area to improve on ahead of the 2015 season.
The Dockers booted 318 goals from 591 scoring shots last season and a wasteful 11.17 against Port Adelaide in the semi-final that cost them a spot in the preliminary final.
Lyon said that he will include more skills sessions and goalkicking practice throughout pre-season training.
"Ultimately, we're trying to massage in more time on the paddock," Lyon told the club's website.
"We'll build in an extra half an hour per session where the groups can go into their areas and work on forward line, midfield stoppages and defences, the specific skills to the position.
"We've determined that we'll be able to do more goalkicking, even on their recovery days, even if it might be from 15m."
Lyon also backed his middle tier players to step up next year following a quiet trade and free agency period.
The Dockers have been an active player in the free agency market over the last few years with the recruitment of Danyle Pearce and Colin Sylvia.
However this season the Dockers failed to land their major target in James Frawley and did not make any transactions during the trade period, instead choosing to maintain their draft picks (No.13, No.34 and No.54) for next month's national draft.
Fremantle veterans Matthew Pavlich, Aaron Sandilands and Luke McPharlin are all currently contracted for 2015 only and none are guaranteed to play on in 2016, placing a greater emphasis on the need for younger players to step up.
"We're looking for growth from our middle tier and emerging players," Lyon said.
"Max Duffy is one who really started to understand AFL footy and prepared in an elite manner. Barring injury he would have played some more football.
"Matt Taberner is another one we expect to grow. Hayden Crozier's finish to the year was really strong. He went a fair way to cementing himself."
The Dockers' first to four-year players will begin pre-season training on November 17.
