Less than 12 months after being sacked as the club's head coach, Voss was bestowed the ultimate accolade after playing 289 games and captaining the club to three successive premierships from 2001-03.

He joins former Fitzroy greats Kevin Murray and triple Brownlow medalist Haydn Bunton as only the third official Lions Legend.

Voss, who was among the inaugural Hall of Fame inductees announced in Melbourne two years ago, also won a Brownlow Medal, five best and fairest awards, was a captain for 10 years and a coach for five.

Four of Voss' premiership teammates were also among 10 new inductees into the Hall of Fame.

Chris Johnson, Darryl White, Chris Scott, and Shaun Hart were all honoured, along with three-time Fitzroy best and fairest Norm Brown, former Bears skipper Roger Merrett, and early Fitzroy greats George Holden, Bill Walker, Harold ‘Lal’ McLennan, and Len Wigraft. 

Jason Akermanis, the 2001 Brownlow medalist, was not considered due to an overseas commitment that prevented him from attending, but both parties have agreed to consider him for the 2016 induction in Melbourne.

To be eligible for selection, players had to be retired from the game for at least three years, with candidates adjudged on their overall contribution to the club, as opposed to one specific aspect.
