A brand new opportunity has arisen for a highly-motivated, innovative individual with a background in communication and public relations to join the Western Bulldogs.

The role of Communication & PR Coordinator Community Projects is a 6-10 month contract that will be responsible for the management and implementation of the Club’s community media and public relations with a particular focus on the Western Bulldogs new men’s health initiative ‘Sons of the West’. 

Suitable applicants will be able to assist in the brand alignment and brand recognition with the Club’s strategic objectives and communications strategies, utilising all of the communication platforms available.

The successful applicant will be able to strategically maximise positive exposure for the Western Bulldogs’ community programs through a strategic public relations schedule while promoting and protecting the brand though best practice risk and crisis management.

It would be expected that the successful applicant can demonstrate experience with following key duties and responsibilities:

  • Coordinate content and production of stakeholder communications
  • Media liaison on behalf of the Club for community projects
  • Develop and maintain effective external relationships with all media partners and providers
  • Responsible for weekly program communications with media and stakeholders
  • Responsible for editing community program content on the multimedia platforms
  • Daily monitoring of community media (and maintaining accurate records)
  • Speech creation for key Western Bulldogs personnel
  • Preparing and issuing media statements, attendance to media events and other duties as required
  • Maintaining accurate records of all media appearances
  • Collaborate with WB Digital Communications Manager to drive best practice for multimedia platforms content focus community programs 

The successful applicants have a minimum two to three years’ experience working in the media and/or PR field, degree preferred .  Strong writing skills are a must and a successful history with media management at a community, government or sporting environment is preferred.  Ideally you will have advanced knowledge of website content management systems and social media platforms is preferred.   Frequently think outside the square, thrive on working under pressure, highly organised and motivated, have excellent time management skills and a proven ability to work to tight deadlines.
