TERRY Milera's 30-game career as a Saint appears over after he informed the club of his desire to return to South Australia.

Milera, 26, has personal reasons for his request to move back to his home state.

He has not played football at any level for two weeks but is now a chance to line up for Sandringham in a VFL elimination final against Collingwood on Saturday.

Milera last played for the Saints in round 15 this season, one of just five senior games this year. 

He is contracted to the club for another year but the Saints will honour his desire to return home.

"We are sorry that Terry is likely to move on from the Saints at the end of the season but we fully appreciate the personal reasons contributing to his decision," head of football Chris Pelchen said.

"Terry has shown that he is a player of some ability and we will endeavour to seek a satisfactory trade for the mutual benefit of both him and the club."

Milera made his debut for the Saints in round one, 2012.

The half forward was pre-listed by Greater Western Sydney in 2011 after impressing in the SANFL for the Port Magpies before being traded, along with Ahmed Saad, to the Saints.

He missed the second half of last season after undergoing ankle surgery and signed a two-year contract extension while he was in rehab.

The Saints will farewell retiring great Lenny Hayes on Sunday against Adelaide while the futures of Sam Fisher, Clint Jones and Adam Schneider are yet to be confirmed.
