NAB Challenge squads: Betts and Pods named
Crows to reveal new-look forward line, Power close to full strength
ADELAIDE has named high-profile recruits Eddie Betts and James Podsiadly in its 29-man squad to take on Port Adelaide in Sunday's NAB Challenge clash at Richmond Oval.
Both clubs named eight new players in their opening pre-season line-ups, with the Power selecting Matt White and Jared Polec to play their first matches for the club after being traded from Richmond and the Brisbane Lions respectively.
Adelaide coach Brenton Sanderson said Betts, who crossed from Carlton as a free agent, and Geelong premiership forward Podsiadly were confirmed starters for the Crows on Sunday.
Exciting midfield prospect Matt Crouch – the younger brother of teammate Brad – will also play his first game for the club.
"Eddie and ‘Pods’ have been fantastic since joining our club in October," Sanderson said.
"They’ve been exceptional on the training track and will add an exciting new dimension to our forward line this year.
"They have enormous experience and are already leaders in their own right.
"Matt’s been really impressive in his first AFL pre-season, especially in our match simulation. He just knows how to find the footy."
Untried players Cam Ellis-Yolmen, Rory Atkins, and Angus Graham, and rookies Charlie Cameron and Alex Spina were all included in the Crows' 29-man squad, which will be trimmed to 26 on Sunday.
Port Adelaide named new players Mason Shaw, Jarman Impey, Mitch Harvey, Darcy Byrne-Jones, Karl Amon and Daniel Flynn.
