There was a larger press contingent than usual at Longmire's regular Monday press conference, following a spat between Goodes and cricketing great Shane Warne that emerged over the weekend.
Warne took to Twitter to question Goodes' supposed habit of diving to win free kicks and also expressed his surprised the dual Brownlow medallist had been named Australian of the Year.
Facing repeated questions over the issue, Longmire stressed that his only interest was in preparing for this week's game at ANZ Stadium.
"Ask a few of the players – I'm not that much into the social media," Longmire said as the inquisition began.
"And it's not at the top of my list to check every weekend and it certainly wasn't at the top of my list to check after this weekend.
"Honestly, I'll worry about the Fremantle Dockers."
Asked if the criticism of Goodes was unfair, Longmire said: "It doesn't worry me. I don’t think it worries Adam.
"We're playing our first final this week.
"We're into the Fremantle Dockers. We're not focusing on social media or discussions or anything outside of that."
He then offered a similar response to a number of variations to the same line of questions, stating it's only a distraction to his side "if you let it be".
He added that if he ever felt the need to discuss the issue with Goodes, he wouldn't address it in front of the media, before the discussion finally turned to football matters.
Following a 10-month layoff with a knee injury, Goodes has played 17 consecutive matches this season, his best streak since back in 2011.
Longmire is pleased with the form of the two-time premiership winner, who has played 348 matches overall, but does admit he had some doubts as Goodes tried to battle back from his latest knee complaint.
"I think his form has been pretty good the back half of the year," Longmire said.
"He's been kicking goals and generally playing quite well for us.
"Once we saw at the end of last year he didn't come back and then the start of this year, you're always a bit like 'how's he going to go, is he going to come back and make an impact?'
"Or if he comes back, how's he going to be?
"He's been able to come back into the team and get better every week, and it's actually got to the stage where he's played in the midfield a bit as well.
"To have the faith and trust for him to go into the midfield group is a good sign for him and hopefully he keeps going."
Come on tigers beat those Swans and make the finals. By the way, does everyone get annoyed when Adam Goodes always "stages" for free kicks ?
