The West Australian Football Commission (WAFC) is the peak Australian Rules Football body in Western Australia and is the caretaker of football throughout the State and responsible for the overall development of the game.
The WAFC is a not for profit organisation that plays an important role in funding the ongoing development of football in all communities. This ensures that football is the best resourced sporting code in the State and can have the most active role in building better communities through various development programs.
The WAFC is currently seeking applications for an Umpire Development Manager. The role supports the umpire pathway and is integral to the ongoing development of football in WA.
Key focus of the position:
- Responsible for planning, coordination and collective management of umpiring within all junior districts and regions and the junior district component of the umpire talent pathway.
- Maintain close dialogue with all internal umpiring stakeholders to ensure a common state umpiring philosophy, best practice and standards remain consistent across all umpiring markets, including maintaining a working relationship with the General Manager Competitions & Pathways.
- Work in partnership with the WAFC Game Development Team.
- Commit to building at all times positive relationships with all game stakeholders whilst actively promoting the game and umpiring throughout the community.
- Develop, promote and grow umpiring via establishing key community game stakeholder partnerships.
- Maintain and operate within WAFC budget allocation.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO UNDERTAKE THE POSITION: (Essential or Desirable)
- Excellent written and verbal communications (E)
- Excellent interpersonal, teamwork and relationship building skills (E)
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically. (E)
- Extensive understanding of the AFL laws and how these relate to Australian Rules Football. (E)
- Ability to work outside of normal working hours. (E)
- A self-motivator, who achieves results autonomously or via teamwork. (E)
- Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in business management. (D)
- An appreciation of the district model and its associated mode of operation. (D)
