Carlton star will return but question of whether in AFL or VFL
CARLTON champion Chris Judd is certain to play this week, but it is yet to be determined whether that will be at AFL or VFL level.
Judd strained his hamstring during the Blues' win over the Western Bulldogs in round five, in what was his first game of the season.
Blues vice-captain Andrew Carrazzo said the 30-year-old dual Brownlow Medallist is ready to go on Friday night against Geelong if he is picked.
"He's definitely playing this weekend. It's just whether they put him straight in or whether he's expected to play a game or two in the VFL," Carrazzo said on Thursday.
"He'll give us a huge boost. But, in saying that, it's his first game back after a long spell and having only played five minutes of footy earlier in the year it is going to take him some time to find his place and his role out there."
Judd trained indoors as his Blues teammates ran around for a light session at Visy Park on Thursday morning.
Carrazzo admitted the Blues had been stung by their seven-point loss to the Brisbane Lions last week.
Carlton put in a thorough review of the loss to the Lions earlier this week, with Carrazzo nominating the club's experienced players to set the example against the Cats.
"It's up to the leaders to make sure the mentality of the group stays on point and we stay sharp," he said.
The Blues had won two important, and close, games against Adelaide and St Kilda leading up to the Lions debacle, and Carrazzo said the feeling amongst the players was that they had started to turn the corner.
"There has been a shift in our level of confidence with the way that we've played, although last week was a disappointing result," he said.
