Squads revealed for the Suns/Pies practice game at Metricon Stdaium
COLLINGWOOD defender Alan Toovey will make his comeback from a knee reconstruction in the Pies' practice match against Gold Coast on Sunday at Metricon Stadium.
Toovey has been sidelined since rupturing an anterior cruciate ligament against Essendon in last year's Anzac Day clash.
But the dependable defender has been named in the Pies' squad for Sunday's game, along with ruckman Jarrod Witts and defender Ben Sinclair, who are both set to play their first games for the Pies this season.
Taylor Adams, Dayne Beams, Ben Hudson, Nick Maxwell, Sinclair, Witts and Toovey come into the Pies' side that lost to Richmond last Saturday, while Tyson Goldsack, Quinten Lynch, Jonathon Marsh, Caolan Mooney, Jackson Ramsay and Peter Yagmoor have been omitted.
The Suns have not named captain Gary Ablett to take on the Pies, but last year's best and fairest runner-up Dion Prestia returns for his first game of the season after a pre-season calf injury.
Jaeger O'Meara, David Swallow, Michael Rischitelli and Trent McKenzie all return to the Suns' side after being rested last Sunday against the Brisbane Lions.
But key defender Rory Thompson was not named and will now go into the home and away season without playing a pre-season game.
Thompson was restricted by a hip injury earlier this pre-season and is now recovering from a bout of gastro.
