ADELAIDE midfielder Scott Thompson has been given a suspended jail term after injuring a friend in a car crash.
Thompson, 25, fled the scene after the accident at Fulham in Adelaide last year.
He was sentenced in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court after pleading guilty to dangerous driving causing serious harm, and leaving the scene of an accident.
Magistrate Paul Foley gave Thompson a suspended four-month prison term for the offences.
He was also disqualified from driving for 12 months.
Thompson has been one of Adelaide's outstanding performers this year, following a stellar 2007 when he polled the most votes (18) by a Crow in the Brownlow Medal.
