The Lions have twice made it through to the Grand Final of the pre-season competition since the 1997 merger - in 2001 against Port Adelaide and in 2007 against Carlton.
Josh Drummond booted his first career nine-point 'super goal' on Saturday night against St Kilda at Gold Coast Stadium. He joins Jed Adcock, Simon Black, Jared Brennan, Travis Johnstone, Daniel Merrett, Luke Power as the only current Lions players to have scored a pre-season nine-pointer.
The Lions' nine-point win over St Kilda last Saturday night was the Club's first victory at Gold Coast Stadium in almost three years. The Lions' last tasted success at Carrara in Round 7 of the 2006 AFL Premiership Season when they defeated Hawthorn by 40 points.
