Despite Essendon kicking six of the last seven goals of the match for a remarkable seven-point win, Worsfold thinks his side is still playing good enough football to play finals.
"I think we could win every other game this year. That's our aim," Worsfold said in Thursday night's post-match press conference.
"A season is measured over 22 rounds. You don't know what's going to happen to every other team.
"You focus on your performances and work to do your best and see where it takes you," he said.
The Eagles injury toll went from bad to worse pre-game with Luke Shuey ruled out with a hamstring injury.
"He hurt his hamstring on Wednesday at training, so we would expect that he will miss another week, but we will wait and see," Worsfold said.
In the absence of key players Shuey, Shannon Hurn, Scott Selwood, and Andrew Embley, Worsfold was really pleased with the level of his side's intensity.
"You couldn’t ask any more from their effort, I don’t think. I was really rapt with the way the guys went about it," Worsfold said.
The coach praised fourth-gamer Mark Hutchings and Bradd Dalziell for their ability to step into the breach after spending time in the WAFL.
"It's not like we're scraping the barrel on some of these players that go out, we've got players that are working really hard in the WAFL," Worsfold said.
He could not pinpoint how his side had failed to close out the match after leading by 23 points late in the third term.
"I think over the course of 120 minutes, we were seven points short. There was no one area."
Worsfold admitted that critical turnovers cost his team late. West Coast is 16th in the competition for effective disposal efficiency. When asked how he can fix that issue, Worsfold was blunt.
"Got to get more skillful. It’s a pretty basic equation," Worsfold said.
It was also the third time this season West Coast lost having had more scoring shots than the opposition. But Worsfold felt his side's inaccuracy was skewed by rushed behinds.
"We've had five rushed behinds tonight to one which makes the accuracy equal, and that would be not far off for the majority of the year I would think," he said.
