Devon Smith's party-trick snap from the right forward pocket resulted in not just an amazing Giants goal - the team's fifth straight to
start the second term - it also gave Greater Western Sydney its first lead against its cross-town rival. It lasted four minutes, before Jude
Bolton's goal put the Sydney Swans back in the lead ... for good. The Sydney Swans posted wire-to-wire victories in the teams' two meetings in 2012. But the final margin of 30 points was the closest the Giants have come in the three Battle of the Bridge clashes.

2. Tom Scully facing anxious wait
Although Scully finished as one of the Giants' better players, the former Demon was reported for tripping in the first quarter following a clash with Rhyce Shaw and will have to wait until Monday to find out if there is any price to pay.
3. Debutants late to the ball
GWS picked three newcomers for round one, former Hawk Stephen Gilham and high draft picks Lachie Whitfield (No.1) and Lachie Plowman (No.3). All three had forgettable first halves, with Gilham outpointed by Swans' ruckmen, Shane Mumford and Mike Pyke, when they went forward. Whitfield had one touch in the opening term and was on the end of a solid bump that sent him to the bench a little sores and sorry, while Plowman gifted the Swans an early goal and took time to settle. But all three fought on and Plowman in particular showed good poise as he adjusted to senior football. The trio will play plenty of football this season and will undoubtedly enjoy better days.
4. Sam Reid leap wows crowd
The play of the day goes to Sam Reid, who leapt into a pack and pulled down a spectacular mark in the third term. Importantly, Reid calmly slotted through a goal to put the brakes on what appeared to be a Giants rally.
5. Swans premiership duo come through reserves
Two players from the Swans' 2012 flag winning side - Mitch Morton and Craig Bird - came through unscathed in the Swans' narrow win over the GWS reserves the curtain-raiser at ANZ Stadium. Morton kicked three goals in the five-point victory, while Bird played all four quarters in a solid hit-out.
