Fairfax Media reported on Thursday that Melbourne, Carlton and Collingwood have all ruled themselves out of the running to lure Martin across from Punt Road.
Martin is seeking around $600,000 a season but the Demons, whose new coach Paul Roos recently met with his management, have determined that figure to be too high.
The same goes for the Blues and Magpies, even though they, like the Demons, could do with the bustling, line-breaking midfielder.
Greater Western Sydney remains interested as do the Brisbane Lions, even though the latter is yet to name a coach for next season.
News Limited is reporting that Giants midfielder Taylor Adams, who considering returning home and is being sought by several Victorian-based clubs, could be approached by the Tigers as a replacement for Martin if he leaves the club.
There are also reports that St Kilda will now also consider offers for Leigh Montagna, as well as for Nick Dal Santo and Sam Fisher as it aggressively seeks to turn over its list and add young talent to its squad.
Montagna has a year remaining on his contract and both he and the club are happy for him to stay, but if the monster offer came along, then both parties will reportedly give it due consideration.
Dal Santo is considering an offer to join North Melbourne next season.
