Ziebell, 21, a Kangaroos' vice-captain, said he hoped to be a one-club player.
"I think it's everyone's decision, but for me personally, the club's done no wrong," he told nmfc.com.au.
"I'd like to be a one-club player and it's important that you get looked after and North has been fantastic.
"The club's heading in a fantastic direction and I'm just thrilled to be a part of it."
Ziebell said he hoped his early re-signing set an example for other players coming out of contract.
"It would be great if the others signed on too and we could all continue in the fashion we've been going lately," he said.
"It's pretty important that we secure all the signatures that we can, but it shouldn't be an issue because of where we are headed."
Ziebell said he was relieved negotiations weren't protracted, and credited the club and his manager for coming to terms.
"I really didn't want to go through the season with that hanging over my head and I'm glad it wasn't a lengthy process and I can now just play footy.
"It's a relief and it'll be good news for my family also knowing they can continue to watch me in North colours for the years to come."
