JAMES Podsiadly's future remains up in the air with the key forward still out of contract as Geelong ponders its options ahead of the Gillette AFL Trade and Free Agency Period.
 
Podsiadly played 23 games this season, including all three of the Cats' finals, but the 32-year-old's future at Simonds Stadium is delicately balanced as Geelong looks set to continue to rejuvenate its list.
 
The Cats delisted Josh Hunt, 31, on Monday, while free agents Paul Chapman, 32 in November, Joel Corey, 31, and Corey Enright, 32, are all yet to re-sign.
 
Enright is the only one of the veterans expected to play on at the Cats.
 
Chapman indicated at the weekend he had met with the Cats but it looked likely he would need to extend his career elsewhere.
 
Despite speculation he was about to talk to the Tigers, Chapman is not on Richmond's radar at the moment.
 
Richmond is understood to have discussed the triple premiership star as it recognises his talent but has put him on the backburner for now.
 
The Tigers are continuing to pursue a steady path to success rather than trying to find top-up players.
 
Chapman, however, is expected to attract interest from other clubs.    
 
Richmond is not seeking a direct replacement for new Brisbane Lions coach Justin Leppitsch, but will rather reorganise its current coaching group, with any new appointment likely to be a development coach.  
 
Mark 'Choco' Williams is set to remain as the club's head of development. 
 
Collingwood has agreed to terms with 25-year-old Brent Macaffer for two years, tying him to the club until the end of 2015.
 
AFL.com.au understands the Magpies are waiting for the situation of free agent Dale Thomas to be settled one way or the other before finalising several contracts.
 
However, Macaffer, a 2010 premiership forward has committed to the club after an excellent season as a run-with player.
 
The Sydney Swans lost their premiership ruckman Shane Mumford to Greater Western Sydney on Wednesday and have several players still out of contract.
 
Andrejs Everitt and Tony Armstrong remain out of contract and Jesse White is seeking a trade to a Victorian club.
 
The Giants were forced to re-affirm that exciting midfield prospect Dylan Shiel was a required player after reports he wanted to return to Victoria.
 
Shiel is contracted for the next two seasons so is unlikely to move although he has attracted interest from several clubs with Melbourne understood to be most keen.
 
AFL.com.au understands Shiel would be open to a move but the Giants want to retain him.
 
Shane Savage's future is also not totally clear. 

The Hawk played in the 2012 Grand Final but missed selection in the 2013 premiership team. He showed good form with the Hawks through the year and was solid in the finals for the Box Hill Hawks after being dropped for the finals.
 
Melbourne and the Eagles are understood to be among several clubs interested in talking to Savage if he is seeking further opportunity outside Hawthorn.
 
He is contracted with the Hawks until the end of 2014 and the 22-year-old is likely to be a required player. He will meet with the club this week.
 
 
Polec met with Adelaide and Port Adelaide recently and AFL.com.au understands both clubs have started trade talks with the Lions.
 
Adelaide will most likely have to offer a player to satisfy the Lions given it is banned from the first two rounds of November's NAB AFL Draft.
 
Contracted Lion James Polkinghorne is seeking a trade if possible from the club he joined in the 2007 NAB AFL Draft. The Lions have declared the 24-year-old, who is overseas, to be a required player. New coach Leppitsch is expected to speak to Polkinghorne when he returns.
 
The odds on another young Lion, ruckman Billy Longer, joining Hawthorn shortened with the news Mumford had signed with Greater Western Sydney on Wednesday.
 
The Hawks reportedly were interested in luring Mumford to Waverley, but Longer now looms as their No. 1 ruck target.
 
Longer has attracted the attention of a number of other Victorian clubs led by Richmond, but the Hawks appear the frontrunners to land his signature.
 
It is understood Longer has been discussed at Punt Road, but there has been no contact made between Richmond and the young Victorian's management. 
 
Longer has told the Lions he wishes to be traded to his home state. 

The Tigers are expected to chase a ruckman in the upcoming trade and free agency period and have confirmed their interested in Carlton big man Shaun Hampson.
 
Hawthorn unrestricted free agent Xavier Ellis has attracted interest from a few clubs including Fremantle.
 
But the 2008 premiership player, who has been limited to 16 games in the past three seasons by injury, could yet re-sign with the Hawks.
 
Chris Yarran looks set to stay at Carlton despite speculation he could seek a trade.  The Eagles are understood to have baulked at the possible asking price and remain without a senior coach.
 
Tom Logan has agreed to stay with Port Adelaide for another season, once again accepting a one-year contract. The tough as nails 28-year-old will enter his 10th year after an excellent end to the season in 2013.  
 
Another tough on-baller Taylor Hunt is happy to stay on at the Cats next season. He is contracted with the club for 2014. 
 
Speculation continues to surround the Saints as they embark on a review of the club and the football department in the wake of CEO Michael Nettlefold's departure.
 
AFL.com.au understands St Kilda captain Nick Riewoldt rang Chris Pelchen from the USA amid reports that senior players wanted to be traded.
