The AFL wishes to advise the Tribunal will sit tonight at 5.30pm Tuesday May 28, after the Brisbane Lions’ Jonathan Brown chose to contest the charge laid by the Match Review Panel from the weekend’s matches. Please find below also the detail of those sanctions accepted:
AFL Tribunal, 5.30pm, Tuesday May 28:
Jonathan Brown, Brisbane Lions, has been charged with a Level Three striking offence (225 demerit points, two-match sanction) for striking Michael Jamison, Carlton, during the third quarter of the Round Nine match between the Brisbane Lions and Carlton, played at the Gabba on Saturday May 25, 2013.
Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the Carlton Football Club, the incident was assessed as intentional conduct (three points), low impact (one point) and high contact (two points). This is a total of six activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level Three offence, drawing 225 demerit points and a two-match sanction. He has no existing good or bad record.
Sanctions Accepted:
Shane Edwards, Richmond, has accepted a $1950 sanction for misconduct in that he pushed Dyson Heppell, Essendon, into the path of umpire Chris Donlon during the second quarter of the Round Nine match between Richmond and Essendon, played at the MCG on Saturday May 25, 2013.
Jack Ziebell, North Melbourne, has accepted a three-match sanction for engaging in rough conduct against Jarryd Lyons, Adelaide Crows, during the second quarter of the Round Nine match between North Melbourne and the Adelaide Crows, played at Etihad Stadium on Sunday May 26, 2013.
