COLLINGWOOD midfielder Clinton Young shone in his return game, while Andrew Krakouer was equally impressive in the club's VFL win over the Coburg Tigers on Sunday.

Krakouer, who was given leave by the club last week to sort out some personal issues, starred with 29 disposals and eight clearances in the club's game at Victoria Park.

Young proved his fitness at main training during the week and provided typical dash from half-back in his 17 disposals, after shaking off the hamstring injury that had dogged him since the start of the season.

Jordan Russell (21) and Marty Clarke (18) were the other Pies to have influence.

Brendan Whitecross had a solid outing for Box Hill on Sunday, returning from the ACL injury suffered in last year's qualifying final against Collingwood.

Western Bulldogs father-son pick Lachie Hunter is edging nearer a senior debut, continuing his rich vein of form for Williamstown by kicking three goals in the Seagulls' comfortable 55-point win over Essendon.

Nathan Lovett-Murray made a valid return for the Bombers just weeks after being stabbed, while David Hille (two goals) and Scott Gumbleton (one) did their best in a losing cause.

Carlton speedster Chris Yarran had an up and down day in his demotion to the VFL after being dropped for displaying poor body language in last Friday night's game against Essendon.

Despite apologising to Blues coach Mick Malthouse for his petulant behaviour, Yarran lined up for the Northern Blues in its game against Frankston at Preston City Oval.

After a slow start, Yarran gradually worked himself into the game and finished with a goal and seven contested possessions.

Blues youngsters Troy Menzel (21 disposals and a goal) and Dylan Buckley (21) were instrumental in the club's win.

Key forward Luke Mitchell booted four goals, while first-year midfielder Nick Graham – who missed eight weeks with a knee injury – was best afield in his return game with 23 disposals.

Shaun Hampson had 21 disposals and 20 hit-outs in a confidence-building game, while ruck partner Robert Warnock had 30 hit-outs

Possible AFL prospect Khan Haretuku impressed with a bag of six goals for Frankston.

In the other VFL game, former North Melbourne forwards Ben Warren and Ben McKinley booted four goals apiece to lead Werribee to a decisive 92-point victory over the Bendigo Gold.

May, who has played eight games so far in 2013, has kicked seven goals for the Suns this season.

Tape has made a solid progression from the ruptured ACL that sidelined him for the season in 2012, while Bock is slowly building on the road back from his broken leg.

Giants veteran Bret Thornton booted four majors and draftee Kristian Jaksch kicked three, while highly-rated youngster Nick Haynes was listed as the Giants' best player.
