Ankle surgery ends Saint Terry Milera's season
Broken ankle suffered in the VFL brings premature end to Milera's year
ST KILDA forward Terry Milera will miss the rest of the season after undergoing surgery for a broken ankle on Tuesday morning.
Milera suffered the injury in the third quarter of last Sunday's VFL clash between Sandringham and Bendigo, leaving the ground on a stretcher after his leg was caught awkwardly in a tackle.
The 25-year-old had been used in the midfield, winning 22 possessions and kicking a goal before injury struck.
Coach Scott Watters said Milera should make a full recovery and he is expected to be back running in time for day one of St Kilda’s 2014 pre-season campaign.
“It is disappointing to lose Terry for the remainder of the season but we look forward to him being back fully fit for 2014,” Watters said.
Milera joins teammates Sam Fisher (toe), Jackson Ferguson (knee) and Daniel Markworth (knee) who have been ruled out for the season.
Sam Gilbert (knee), Beau Maister (hamstring) and Justin Koschitzke (calf) are two to three weeks away from returning.
Milera has played 25 games since he was pre-listed by Greater Western Sydney and traded to St Kilda in 2011 in a deal that also involved Ahmed Saad.
He has kicked seven goals in 10 games for the Saints this season.
