WEST Coast players have the belief and attitude to bounce back from a horror season and challenge again in 2014, according to midfielder Scott Selwood.

Premiership fancies pre-season, the Eagles have crashed in the last fortnight, suffering consecutive 10-goal defeats and recording their lowest ever scores at Patersons Stadium and the MCG.

As the club looks to salvage pride against Adelaide in round 23, Selwood's message to supporters who entered 2013 with high hopes was "keep faith".

"We've got the belief and the attitude to bounce back very strong," Selwood told AFL.com.au.

"We'll get guys back in the team that have been sore.

"That's never really an excuse, but that's going to help us play our best footy when we have our best team in.

"Hopefully, once we get them back it'll help develop the young guys when they're out on the track and training.

"Keep faith."

West Coast has been forced to juggle injured players all season, with Nic Naitanui, Beau Waters, Shannon Hurn, Mark LeCras and Daniel Kerr all finished for the year.

Selwood also missed four games earlier in the season with a thumb injury but was close to his best on Friday night.

The 23-year-old was his team's best player at the MCG, battling against the tide in the midfield to finish with 33 possessions and six clearances.

However, the Eagles were never competitive after falling 37 points behind at the first break, and Selwood said the players lacked intensity.
"The last couple of weeks it hasn't been there," he said.

"Questions are being asked of us, and unfortunately tonight we lacked speed and they just dominated from the word go.

"I don't know if our attitude was a little bit off tonight, but hopefully we can bounce back next week and finish the season off strong.

"I know the boys are hurting."

Midfielder Matt Priddis, who was playing his 150th game, was another Eagle to fight hard all night, and Selwood said the Eagles could learn from his example.

"We can take a leaf out of his book, not just this next game, but coming into pre-season," he said.

"Hopefully we can improve and play better footy.

"I think everyone would agree that they can improve in some area, from the coaches to the players - everyone.

"I don't think we can solely focus on one thing."
