The past few months have obviously been a very challenging period for everyone associated with the Essendon Football Club and I commend Ian Robson for the decision he announced today to resign as Chief Executive Officer of the club.

The report commissioned by Essendon FC by Mr Ziggy Switkowski into the governance of the club identified a significant breakdown in its management and governance.

Responsibility for the day to day management and governance of the club rests with the Chief Executive Officer and Ian has accepted that responsibility.

Since Essendon FC came forward in early February this year to the AFL and requested that the AFL and ASADA investigate a number of matters the club had become aware of, Ian has conducted himself very professionally and in conjunction with Chairman David Evans, has ensured that the club has fully co-operated with the ASADA and AFL investigation.

Ends.
