SUMMARY
Greater Western Sydney will take some welcome confidence into this one after facing Geelong front on and staying with the Cats for three quarters last weekend. It's a performance that coach Kevin Sheedy and co-captain Callan Ward have both acclaimed as the best in GWS' short history. The challenge now is to back that up against a Port Adelaide side that also hasn't tasted victory for some time now.

The Power burst out of the blocks with five straight wins, but followed that up with five consecutive defeats leading up to their bye in round 11 and will be keen to get back on track. This fixture could also make some Port players a little nervous. The corresponding match last season ended with GWS celebrating just its second ever win in the competition and former coach Matthew Primus seeking new employment.

THE SIX POINTS
1. GWS made a strong start to its round two clash with Port, kicking four goals to two in the opening quarter. But it was all the home side the rest of the way, kicking 17 goals to seven from quarter-time onwards for a 56-point win on the night both clubs honoured the memory of former Port player John McCarthy.

2. Jeremy Cameron and Justin Westhoff have been the leading forwards between the two sides, kicking six goals each across the two games. They are also each club's leading forward in the Official AFL Player Ratings. Westhoff is the 20th ranked forward overall, while Cameron is sure to rise quickly from his current position of 58th.

3. This match will be Port Adelaide's second visit to Skoda Stadium and the Power will be hoping for a better outcome this time around. In round 19 last year, GWS kicked six goals to two in a stunning final term for a 34-point win.

4. Sheedy will be aiming to improve a poor record against the Power in his final coaching effort against the South Australian club. In 19 previous attempts, he has just seven wins.

5. While they are still to pick up a victory this season, the Giants are clearly improving, particularly in the forward half of the ground. In 2012 they averaged just 57 points per game, but that has lifted to 75 points per outing in 2013.

6. Port will need to be on its guard at the centre bounces on Sunday. GWS is ranked fourth in the competition for centre clearances, while the Power are down in 13th.
