The new Blues coach savaged the committee after Saturday night's 70-point win against Fremantle over the controversial 80 interchange cap trial.
"He's coming along to provide the laws group with an insight into current trends around coaching, in the same way that John Longmire presented to the AFL commission late last year," League spokesman Patrick Keane confirmed to AFL.com.au.
Other coaches are also set to be invited through the season.
"The laws group is intending to have a guest at each of its meetings this year, wherever possible," Keane said.
It could be a fiery discussion at League HQ on Wednesday after Malthouse suggested some members of the committee were out of touch.
"I sincerely hope that the rules committee is governed by people who have an understanding of the modern game, not previous, long-ago coaches, long-ago players or new officials that just make up the numbers," Malthouse told reporters on Saturday night.
Malthouse’s former teammate, and longtime member of the Laws of the Game Committee, Kevin Bartlett hit back on SEN on Monday morning.
"That's quite insulting to those who have been chairman of the Laws of the Game Committee because what Mick is saying is that the chairman … has got a group there for which he shows contempt to, that he's not interested in everyone's opinion on that … committee and doesn’t give them ample time to talk about the game," Bartlett said.
"To suggest that they would have people on that committee and they would treat them with contempt and disdain … is insulting”
League deputy chief executive Gillon McLachlan is currently chairing discussions following Adrian Anderson's departure.
Anderson was a major advocate for the interchange cap which the committee had wanted for the season proper, but the AFL Commission rejected that proposal, choosing instead to order a trial in this year’s NAB Cup.
Malthouse is not the only coach to criticise the rule trial with Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson leading the chorus across the weekend after his side's loss to the Western Bulldogs on Friday night.
