Unwanted Cat Paul Chapman passes an Essendon medical, the fight for Billy Longer's services steps up, and Adelaide agrees on terms to trade Bernie Vince to Melbourne.
Chappy and Bomber reunited Paul Chapman is expected to be a Bomber imminently after a passing a medical at Essendon. The Geelong veteran will be re-united with his former coach Mark Thompson on a two-year deal which will have certain terms and conditions. Chapman will give the Bombers' forward line much-needed firepower as the club braces for the loss of goalkicker Stewart Crameri to the Bulldogs. Another Essendon forward, Scott Gumbleton, is also expected to leave the club. Gumbleton has told the club he wants to be traded to Fremantle, reports The Age.

Sylvia compo headed Crows' way Melbourne has agreed to trade the compensation pick it received for losing free agent Colin Sylvia to Adelaide in exchange for midfielder Bernie Vince, says The Advertiser. The pick is expected to fall at the start of the second round of the NAB AFL Draft, perhaps immediately after the Demons pick No. 20. If the pick is lower than 25, the Crows will, reportedly, accept the trade.
Polec trade a done deal Port Adelaide will secure the services of Brisbane Lions midfielder Jared Polec on Friday afternoon. According to The Advertiser, the Power will involve the Lions arch rival Gold Coast in the trade, giving up pick 13 at the NAB AFL Draft to the Suns in exchange for picks 18 and 23. Polec would then move to Alberton for pick 18 and the Power would hold on to pick 23.
Melbourne clubs circling Longer Essendon has met with Brisbane Lion ruckman Billy Longer in order to persuade him to return to Melbourne, reports The Age. St Kilda is also chasing Longer but the young big man, and top 10 pick from the 2011 draft, has also met with the Lions and hasn't ruled out staying put. Longer had expected to be traded to Hawthorn, but the Hawks' play for St Kilda big man Ben McEvoy stopped that deal.
Other news Sydney Swans defender Tony Armstrong and Jesse White could be traded to Collingwood as part of a three-team trade involving West Coast. The Magpies are reportedly close to offloading picks 10 and 27 to the Eagles in exchange for picks six and 40. The latter draft pick, 40, would then be sent to the Harbour City for Armstrong and White.
