Worsfold conceded finals might just be out of reach for his side despite Saturday's 17-point win over Gold Coast at Patersons Stadium, but he's still looking to test the September aspirants starting with the Bombers next Sunday.
"Not to me, not at all," Worsfold said when asked whether the imminent ASADA report into the supplements saga cast a shadow over next week's match-up.
"They're [Essendon] a good side and we pushed them and they over-ran us in the last quarter here last time.
"Our focus is around how well we want to play out the year and take it up to these sides who have got finals football ahead of them."
Injuries have hurt the Eagles all season but they could potentially regain a raft of experienced players for the clash with the Bombers.
A number of players put their hand up with strong performances in the WAFL on Saturday.
Daniel Kerr had 35 disposals and three goals for East Fremantle and Patrick McGinnity had 26 touches and three goals for Claremont.
Adam Selwood, Matt Rosa and Brad Dick also played well at WAFL level but Worsfold said it would be tough to drop any of the incumbents.
"Looking at the way some of the guys have been going, there's not too many in the team at the moment that we're disappointed in," Worsfold said.
"So it will be a tough call if we decide to leave anyone out rather than through injury, and it looks like that's going to be the choice we've got this week.
"The last month, we've basically just made changes through injury."
Nic Naitanui (groin) and Luke Shuey (hamstring) might also be considered but both would have to pass a number of tests to be considered
"Nic started making noise about wanting to play this week, because he was feeling so good," Worsfold said.
"We won't be close to making that call until Thursday.
"Shuey, I would expect he's some chance but again we're not rushing that. So we'll follow his progression and see how he is."
Matt Priddis was a late withdrawal against the Suns with a tight quad but should be fine to face the Bombers.
