NAT FYFE says it doesn't matter who the Dockers play in week one of the finals, as his team believes its best football can stand up against anyone.
After demolishing Port Adelaide by 74 points at Patersons Stadium on Saturday night, the third-placed Dockers are likely to play either Hawthorn or Geelong in Melbourne in a qualifying final.
Fyfe said his side isn't concerned with either its opponent or the venue.
"We'll take whoever we get," Fyfe said on Sunday.
"We think our best footy stands up. We've got full faith in our game plan, full faith in Ross [Lyon] and we think we've got what it takes to play in the biggest games."
Fyfe's confidence doesn't just stem from the five-match winning streak that the Dockers are riding.
The team is also supremely confident due to its recent record in Melbourne, having won eight of 10 matches under Ross Lyon at both the MCG and Etihad Stadium, including an elimination final win over Geelong at the MCG last September.
"We know if we play our style for four quarters it can get it done and that Geelong win gave us some confidence so we'll use that this year," Fyfe said.
The Dockers are set to travel in consecutive weeks. They face St Kilda in round 23 at Etihad Stadium next Saturday before most likely returning to Melbourne the week after for the first final.
Fyfe was unperturbed by the prospect of back-to-back trips to Victoria.
"We've done it before," the star midfielder said.
"We know living in the west that we're going to travel. Travelling doesn't faze us too much any more."
Freo also heads into September having increased its scoring power. The Dockers have kicked 20 goals plus in their past three matches - against GWS, Melbourne and Port Adelaide - having only kicked that many once their first 42 games under Lyon.
The scoring glut has been led by the dynamic duo Hayden Ballantyne and Michael Walters, who Fyfe believes could be held among the elite small forwards in the AFL.
"I think they've got stakes to claim that," Fyfe said.
"They're up and about. They're going well."
