NORTH MELBOURNE coach Dean Laidley has labelled the Kangaroos’ performance in their 33-point loss to Adelaide as “appalling” and “disgraceful”.

And he has not held back in naming names, indicating defender Daniel Pratt was on thin ice for constant breaches of on-field discipline.

“The way we used the ball by hand and foot was just absolutely appalling – absolutely appalling,” Laidley said after the match. “Disgraceful, bordering on.

“They kicked 11.8 from our turnovers. That’s it in a nutshell.

“And until our players get better at that it will be costly for us.”

Laidley said a 50m penalty given away by Pratt just before half-time – which gifted a goal to Crows rookie Jarrhan Jacky – was one of the game’s turning points.

“(Early) I thought our pressure was very good. And we made the most of our forward 50 entries,” Laidley said.

“We probably should have only been two goals down at half-time – but then you get an undisciplined Daniel Pratt. He’s really got to look at himself, because the coach is getting sick and tired of him giving away 50m penalties … (and) you end up going three-and-a-half goals down.

“Then quickly you find yourselves seven or eight goals down and the game’s been blown open.”

“It (Pratt’s discipline) better get fixed pretty quick.”

Laidley said the break for the Hall of Fame Tribute match would come at a good time for his club – and signalled changes would be made after the bye.

Josh Gibson and Jesse Smith will return from injury, and the club would look to play other youngsters.

“We probably have one or two young guys that have been performing pretty well over the last two or three weeks – (Gavin) Urquhart and (Ben) Ross – we think that they’re ready to play.

“And on some performances tonight you think they’d be a chance to come in. Because you’ve got to keep performing.”
