THE SEASON is three rounds old, the first week of player value updates, and Toyota AFL Dream Team coaches around the nation are taking stock of their pre-season punts.

As foreshadowed in last week's market watch report, Fremantle's Michael Barlow topped the charts with a whopping $80,900 increase in value after his blistering start to the season.

Others to shine included Hawk Carl Peterson, Barlow's teammates Alex Silvagni and young Roo Ryan Bastinac.

But the new kids on the AFL block didn't have the limelight all to themselves, as some more experienced heads enjoyed an early form revival.

Saint-turned-Lion Matt Maguire, who spent all of 2009 playing with St Kilda's VFL affiliate Sandringham, showed he has what it takes to continue his big-league career with a rise of $60,700.

Maguire's form revival has been mirrored by Swans defender Nick Malceski, who has been prolific in all three of his side's games after struggling throughout last season.

Meanwhile, big Eagle Dean Cox has suffered an astonishing fall from grace in the world of dream, plunging more than $60,000 in value after a slow start to the season.

He's not the only tall to struggle early doors: Collingwood duo Darren Jolly and Josh Fraser join Lion ruck Mitch Clark also among the top 10 biggest losers after round three.

Port Adelaide skipper Dom Cassisi is a surprise member of the losers club this week, despite his side's promising start to 2010.

And those who backed Adam McPhee to thrive upon his return to the west will be sorely disappointed, with the tall utility averaging less than 50 points a game to date.

However, be wary of taking the form drop stats at face value.

Bulldog defender Ryan Hargrave sits second on the table behind Cox, but he has been hampered by mid-game injuries in two of his three outings to date.

Given his side in is good nick, there is no reason that Hargrave cannot bounce back as his luck improves.

While thousands of DT mentors are pondering how to spend their windfalls this week, those who missed out should keep their eyes peeled for a chance to catch up.

Several players are yet to reach the three-game milestone and as such, their form is yet to be reflected in their price.

Essendon's Kyle Reimers ($278,100) is averaging a tick under 100 points to date and he should rise in value next week.

If Tom Rockliff ($101,100) can maintain his form after his season-opening 87-point game against Port Adelaide, he will shoot up in value once he hits the three-game mark.

And Adelaide duo Brett Burton ($229,400) and Ivan Maric ($240,400) have significantly outperformed their rating in their first two games of the season. In particular, Maric looks to have come of age this season and looks a value pick if you need to boost your ruck division.
