NORTH Melbourne veteran ruckman Todd Goldstein looks to be remaining at the club next year at this early stage of the NAB AFL Trade Period.
Out of favour at times this year, Goldstein still played 19 matches although he was not at his damaging best.
The ruckman's name was raised last year as a potential trade, but North general manager of football Cameron Joyce was not able to provide more information on his current situation.
"There's probably no update with Todd, he's obviously contracted, so no real update to give you guys at the minute," Joyce said.
He also said the attraction of having three rucks capable of playing senior football on their list meant Majak Daw and Braydon Preuss are expected to be kept off the trade table.
Joyce said out-of-contract forward Jarrad Waite will have to wait until at least the end of the week before his future is clearer.
Waite played 10 games for a return of 22 goals in an injury-interrupted year, missing matches with shoulder and calf injuries, as well as suspension.
North Melbourne missed out on prized potential recruits Dustin Martin and Josh Kelly, with both turning their backs on big contracts offered by North to remain at their clubs.
Joyce said the club was still keen to land some elite midfield talent, but it could come through the draft rather than the trade table.
"There may be something over the next few days, but otherwise we've got two great picks to start with at four and 21 that we haven't had for 10 years at the club, so that's exciting for us."
With the club's stated interest in midfielders, Joyce indicated it was unlikely the Roos would pursue homesick Lion and key forward Josh Schache, who has asked to return to Victoria.
