Port Adelaide has thrown out its usual weekly training routine, hitting the North Haven golf course on Wednesday for an afternoon of team bonding.

After an accurate skills session on Wednesday morning, the team swapped its usual afternoon training for the golf course, breaking up into teams for a range of golf games.

The traditional ‘quiet on the tee’ approach was nowhere to be seen as the players cheered and jeered their way through the two-hour session.

Steven Salopek, Troy Chaplin and Brendon Lade were among the keenest of golfers going into the day but it was big man Fabian Deluca who claimed the coveted longest drive award ahead of Toby Thurstans.

Greg Bentley’s chip over the bunker that rested next to the pin earned his team the chipping win. On the putting green, Michael Wilson copped it from his teammates for his four-putt effort from long-range.

The session finished with a ‘speed round’ where teams had to complete the course in the fastest time possible, while still trying to have as few shots as they could.
