THE Port Adelaide Football Club’s membership campaign continues to gather momentum, with the club cracking 25,000 members prior to our first NAB Cup game against Melbourne and Adelaide last Friday.

Membership is tracking strongly against last year, where to this point in 2010 membership sales were up by nearly 12% on 2009. However with the One Port Adelaide merger (Mk1) rejected in the second week of February, Power membership virtually stalled with Magpies membership catapulting to nearly 7500.

The momentum of One Port Adelaide has seen some positive trends emerging, with over 2,500 people joining the club so far who were not members in 2010, but the Club has now reached a critical point as it aims to achieve an ambitious membership target of 35,000 in 2011. Currently 70% towards this target, the Club this week has launched the next phase of the membership campaign.

Port Adelaide CEO Mark Haysman said the historic One Port Adelaide announcement has been vitally important in re-engaging the heartland.

“Through the latter part of 2010, on the back of the One Port Adelaide push, the emotion generated within the Port Adelaide community was extremely powerful and was a key reason for its eventual success in November,” Haysman said.

“We need those supporters to make the extra commitment and become a member of the Port Adelaide Football Club as there has never been a more important time to sign up and join.”

“At this time last year our membership stalled on the back of the failed first attempt at the merger, so based on that and the positive momentum we currently have we are confident that we can maintain the current sales trend for 2011 and hopefully exceed our targets for 2011.

“This week, over 50,000 Port Adelaide fans who have yet to either renew their membership or join up for the first time will receive a personalized ‘Port Adelaide Times’ (pictured below) highlighting the importance for them to join up in 2011.

Total PAFC Membership is currently 26,379 which includes 3,876 Magpies members.
