Richard Douglas and David Mackay had a work-out before training when their muscles were needed to help lift the first solar panels to be installed in the new Westpac Centre.

The solar panels, by Modern Solar, have been designed as an expandable system.

Once the first roll-out is complete it will see the Club create greenhouse gas reduction of approximately 12,000 kgs of C02 per year.

Pictured with Douglas and Mackay are Club Facilities Manager Trevor Jaques and Barrie Harris (General Manager, Bramalco) along with Don McDonald (Group CEO, Modern Solar).

The Club was very mindful of its environmental responsibilities when the Westpac Centre was designed and built last year.

Another example are bollards which surround Max Basheer Reserve. Made by Replas the bollards are made from recycled milk cartons.
