MELBOURNE'S Cale Morton - the No.4 draft pick of 2007 - and North Melbourne's out-of-favour forward Aaron Edwards are the latest players mooted for trade.
On the penultimate day of the Gillette AFL Trade Period, a day when a few moves start to come to fruition, speculation has heightened that Morton and Edwards will be traded.
According to The Age and The Australian, the Kangaroos might yet trade Edwards to Richmond in exchange for a late draft pick.
The 28-year-old, who played nine games for the club in 2012 and 82 overall, has fallen behind Robbie Tarrant and Lachie Hansen in the club's forward depth chart, but would be a handy back-up to Jack Riewoldt and Tyrone Vickery at Tigerland.
The Herald Sun is reporting that Melbourne midfielder Cale Morton might return home to Western Australia to play for the Eagles, perhaps in exchange for pick 61 or 62.
Despite being a No.4 pick in the 2007 NAB AFL Draft, Morton has been a disappointment for the Demons.
The Eagles are looking for as mature-aged midfielder to replace Koby Stevens, who they traded to the Western Bulldogs on Wednesday, and the thinking behind it is sound.
They brought Josh Hill into the club this time last year, ostensibly as a back-up medium forward, but once Mark LeCras went down at the start of the year with a season-ending knee injury, Hill stepped in and kicked 36 goals in 22 games.
The final day of the trade period promises to be intriguing, and frantic, with the complicated and now murky Kurt Tippett deal yet to be resolved.
And what still needs to go down?
Cam Pedersen is yet to cross from North Melbourne to Melbourne because the Demons can't offer the Kangaroos a satisfactory draft pick in return.
It might take Demons big man Stefan Martin crossing to the Brisbane Lions for the Pedersen deal to get done because only then would the Demons have the right pick to trade to North.
It will be a busy period for the Kangaroos, who have yet to consummate the trade to bring Port Adelaide defender Ben Jacobs to Aegis Park.
According to the Herald Sun, a three-way deal between the Lions, Demons and Port to move Martin to Brisbane and Jacobs to North has stalled because the Lions don't believe Martin is worth pick 33, which is what they would need to part with.
Meanwhile, the chances of St Kilda and West Coast doing any business before the close of trading are becoming more remote.
The Eagles are steadfastly refusing to trade defender Mitch Brown to the Saints, who in turn, are playing hardball on youngster Jamie Cripps, who might be headed to the draft in order to win a move to the Eagles.
Because Brown is still contracted to West Coast, the Eagles aren't obliged to try to move him on, so the Saints might turn to Hawthorn defender Stephen Gilham, although it is believed Greater Western Sydney might also have designs on the 2008 premiership full-back.
The Hawks would be happy to get back into the draft a bit earlier than pick 66, which is their second selection overall following the trade to bring full-back Brian Lake to the club.
As reported exclusively by AFL.com.au, Gold Coast defender Josh Toy is keen to return to Victoria and the Hawks, along with the Western Bulldogs and Essendon, are believed to be in the hunt.
