CARLTON’S Andrew Walker is being targeted by the Western Bulldogs, and has been given permission by the Blues to speak to the Dogs, the Herald Sun reports.

The 24-year-old has already met with Adelaide.

The scenario for the Dogs is complicated because they will be using their first two pics - in a draft already affected by the arrival of Gold Coast - on father-son picks Mitch Wallis and Thomas Liberatore.

However, they do have the use of their compensatory first-round pick that they received for Jarrod Harbrow's departure to the Suns.

The Blues have rejected a direct swap for out-of-favour Bulldog Andrejs Everitt, but it looks as though he will be traded out as he looks for a fresh start, along with Brennan Stack and Josh Hill, while the Dogs are apparently interested in Geelong's Nathan Djerrkura, who is chasing more senior opportunity.

The Dogs have also been linked with Brisbane Lion Justin Sherman.

The Herald Sun also reports that Chris Tarrant wants to return to Collingwood, and says that either a three-way deal looms or Tarrant could walk to the Pies through the pre-season or national drafts, as Luke Ball last year.

That scenariois complicated by Hawthorn and Carlton, who will have picks before the Magpies, both showing strong interest in the 30-year-old.

Melbourne is believed to be keen on North Melbourne tall David Hale, who has struggled to get the opportunities he would like with the Kangaroos, who have four ruckmen.

However, the Herald Sun reports that Gold Coast and Hawthorn arealso interested in the 201cm 26-year-old.

Geelong says superstar Gary Ablett is welcome at its best-and-fairest this Thursday night even if he has already announced that he will be leaving to go to Gold Coast by then.

Speculation is rife that the 26-year-old, who is on holiday in Queensland, will tell the club of his decision on the Suns’ massive offer on either Thursday or Friday.

AAP reports that Gold Coast is not expected to be active in its first trade week despite disgruntled Brisbane Lions utility Jared Brennan being an obvious target.

''Trade week is not a major part of our [recruiting] strategy,'' CEO Travis Auld said.

''We've said before that we don't expect to be active. We'll have our phones on and we'll listen, but it's not a priority.''

The Suns obviously have no players to offer up, but they can take former AFL players who are no longer with a club, such as 2010 Sandover Medallist Andrew Krakouer, who was formerly with Richmond, or trade some of its raft of draft picks.

Carlton ruckman Sam Jacobs has requested a trade to Adelaide.

Jacobs, who has played 17 matches for the Blues since making his debut in round one of 2009, was recruited from Androssan via Woodville-West Torrens with pick in the 2007 NAB AFL Rookie Draft.
