Voss on the team’s injured players

“We haven’t got a complete update on what Drummo’s got just yet - he’s still getting the scans. But our suspicion is that it’s an ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament).”

“A lot of people have spoken about the LARS surgery that Nick Malceski (Sydney), David Rodan (Port Adelaide) and Brad Fisher (Carlton) had, but there has to be an actual tear for that to be an option and we don’t know that yet.”

“We suspected Jared Brennan might have broken his fibula, but it doesn’t appear that he has. We’re probably looking at more like 4-6 weeks. It’s basically a ligament tear - a pretty major one. That’s been our good news this morning - if you can call it that...”

“Joel Patfull (hamstring) and Daniel Merrett (hamstring) are both a very good chance to play this week and Maguire will definitely play (after returning from suspension). So we should get those three back, but I won’t hold my breath after last week.”

“Mitch Clark (groin) and Andrew Raines (calf) are still a 50-50 chance at this point in time."

“Mitch’s injury is only minor, but he’ll have to get through a full week of training to prove himself right. We really won’t know until we get further into this week.”

“Fev’s fine - I don’t know why you guys (the media) don’t believe me. He was right to play. He has a sore foot, but once he gets injections, he’s right to play. It just means that he gets a bit sore during the week.”

“Kicking the ball 55 metres didn’t seem to be too much of a concern for him.”

Voss on Geelong’s dominance

“They were what I expected. I said it a month ago and I said it last year that I still think Geelong are right up there.”

“For us, it’s more about what we need to do to get going again. I’m confident that if we do get going, we can be competitive against any team in the competition.”

“We haven’t been able to execute what we need to do and because of that, opposition teams have been able to pull us apart.”

“One thing I do know about Geelong is that if you try to take them on individually - you’ll get beaten individually. What you can’t help but admire about Geelong is their team ethos. We have to be able to take on the Geelong team - and not just the individuals within it.”

“We need to make sure we can be competitive for all four quarters - not just three quarters. When we achieve that, we can be quite a good team.”

Voss on the challenge ahead

“I reckon it’s great. As competitors, when you don’t have everything on your own terms, these are the times you have to find something little inside yourself.”

“It’s good sometimes to have things presented nicely to you with a ribbon on top, but at this point in time we don’t. As a competitive football team, these are the weeks you find out something about your playing group. We get that chance this week.”

“I’m a competitive type so I’m looking forward to this week’s challenge.”
