Geelong won for the third straight round, beating winless Box Hill by 14 points in a close affair on Saturday.
Travis Varcoe’s three goals and other stand out performances from the likes of Shannon Byrnes, Brent Prismall, Kane Tenace and David Johnson saw the Cats home.
Box Hill belied their poor form and led at half time by 16 points. A strong third term saw Geelong take the lead, but the margin was just seven points heading into the final quarter.
The Cats steadied and improved their record to 4-2 after six games. Geelong will tackle Coburg at the MCG on Saturday in a curtain raiser to the Geelong – Richmond clash.
