RICHMOND is set to welcome back Matthew Richardson for Saturday's crunch match against the Brisbane Lions, ruckman Adam Pattison says.

Richardson, 33, has missed the past two matches with a hamstring strain but was moving freely at training on Monday.

"He's looking good. He was running around [on Monday] and he'll definitely be in contention, I'd say," Pattison told Melbourne sports radio station SEN on Tuesday morning.

Pattison also said coach Terry Wallace is improving after spending time in hospital last week with a respiratory infection.

Wallace coached the side on Saturday against Essendon but left the post-match press conference duties to assistant Brian Royal.

"Terry has been good. I was on the flight on the way back from Perth [in round 15] and he was coughing and waking everyone up," Pattison said.

"It was the first time I'd gotten to sit up in business class, so he ruined my experience a bit.

"He's getting better now."

Graham Polak is also on the road to recovery, with the defender continuing to show signs of improvement from the brain bruising he sustained just over three weeks ago when he was struck by a tram.

"I'm going in to see him today," Pattison said.

"He's going really well. The doctors are all very happy with his signs and stuff like that so hopefully he gets better as soon as possible."
