NORTH Melbourne defender Michael Firrito and forward Matt Campbell have recommitted to the Kangaroos and signed contract extensions.

Firrito has agreed to a one-year deal while Campbell's new contract will take him through until the end of 2013.

"Mick has a terrific opportunity to assume more leadership responsibility with the retirement of Brady Rawlings," chief of football Donald McDonald said on Wednesday.

"He's one of our more experienced players and he along with Scott Thompson, Nathan Grima and Scott McMahon are the nucleus of a back-line which we think will be a real strength for us next year.

"We're extremely pleased to have Matty re-sign with the club for another two seasons.

"For him personally it's a great opportunity to build on his strong finish to the year following some bad luck with injuries."

Firrito, 27, has played 170 games for the club after making his AFL debut in round one, 2003, against Essendon following his elevation from the rookie list.

Campbell, 24, struggled with hamstring and form issues earlier this year but played the final eight games of the season.

He will enter 2012 with 67 AFL games to his name after his debut in 2007 against Collingwood in the season opener.

Campbell was linked to Hawthorn early in last week's trade period, but coach Brad Scott was quick to put to bed any speculation the speedy small forward was headed elsewhere.

Earlier this week, the Kangaroos announced the delisting of Daniel Pratt, Ed Lower, Brayden Norris, Ben Ross, Gavin Urquhart and rookies Matthew Scott and Marcus White.

The retirement of Rawlings, promotion of Cam Pederson and Luke Delaney to the senior list and the arrival of Will Sierakowski from Hawthorn make up the Roos' list changes so far.
