Speaking prior to the team flying out to Brisbane on Friday, German said Brown would demand a lot of attention, but Fremantle would not shape their defence around the Lions forward.
“He’s one player we need to stop and there is probably about another two or three others that have been in really good form,” German said.
“Last year he had a fair impact on the game against Fremantle up there. He’s important but also as important is to stop the supply and the quality of supply.
“We certainly know they’re not a one man band.”
Fremantle has played at the Gabba six times in its history and is yet to record a win at the venue. But unlike round nine of 2006 where Brisbane claimed the home win over Fremantle, German said Sunday’s match would be much different with both sides lining up with vastly different squads than the previous year.
“It’s almost a 20 player turn around (from last year),” German said.
“We’ve got 10 players that didn’t play last year and that’s counting Sandilands, Crowley, Tarrant and Solomon and a few others.
“They’ve lost Voss and Akermanis and a few quality players like that.
“I think it is certainly going to be a different type of game than previously.
“They have got a lot of young kids who are really starting to make their mark. We’re really looking forward to taking them on with leg speed and ball speed.
“I think the game is going to come down to pressure. Both sides pressure well. I think that has been Brisbane’s great strength so far, even through the NAB Cup and their last couple of games.
“It’s going to be a tough challenge.”
