Hall's decorated career at the Swans was regularly punctuated by acts of ill discipline, none more infamous than when he punched West Coast's Brent Staker in 2008 to earn an eight-week suspension.
The Swans' premiership co-captain's stint at the club ended in mid-2009, when he quit the club to address his anger management issues after receiving a two-week ban for striking Adelaide's Ben Rutten.
Hall will face his former teammates for the first time at Manuka Oval, and Roos said his direct opponent - likely to be Lewis Roberts-Thomson or Heath Grundy - would focus on playing football, rather than gamesmanship.
"We don't adopt those tactics. You can't change your own game because you don't want to put yourself off your game, either," he said.
"Whoever gets Barry will play him fair and square and if [Hall] beats him, he'll be beaten fair and square. If our guys beat him, it'll be the same.
"There will be none of that from our point of view."
Roos acknowledged Hall would be keen to produce his best against the Swans, but he said there was no extra motivation for his side to keep their former teammate quiet.
"I don't think there's a team in the land that knows Barry's ability better than we do ... he doesn't need to prove a point to us. We know he can play," he said.
"We've got to worry about the whole Bulldogs team ... we've had trouble beating them in the last couple of years so with 'Hally' there, it makes it even harder."
Meanwhile, Roos said he was able to glean some positives from the Swans' 67-point loss to a rampant Geelong at Skilled Stadium on Sunday, including a strong effort from ruckman Shane Mumford.
"I thought 'Mummy's' return was pretty good. Going down there is always tough. I think I said after the game that he was our best midfielder; I probably haven't changed my mind," he said.
"Joey Kennedy was pretty good and Lewis Jetta, considering the heat of the game and the fact that we were beaten in most positions, did some really exciting things as well."
Roos also confirmed that Roberts-Thomson (hamstring tightness), Dan Hannebery (shoulder) and Ben McGlynn (quad) were likely to return against the Bulldogs, while Gary Rohan was a good chance to remain in the senior team despite a quiet debut against the Cats.
