New Geelong coach Chris Scott knows the Cats will need to make changes if they are to win the 2011 premiership.

Speaking at his first media conference of the season, Scott noted that Collingwood and St Kilda had finished ahead of the Cats and that his team will need to respond to that fact.

"It’s clear that two teams finished ahead of us on the ladder last year. There's no doubt if we roll out what we rolled out last year we won't win the premiership," he said.

Scott sees Sunday’s NAB Cup clashes with North Melbourne and the Western Bulldogs as an ideal opportunity to get a read on where the playing group currently sits.

"It's hard to envisage where the playing group is at when there is nothing to compare it to," Scott noted.

Geelong will open the three game set against the Kangaroos at 3:45pm, and will close out the day against the Dogs at 5:55pm.
