The Collingwood Football Club is pleased to announce a fixture for 2009 that caters for members and supporters to attend 18 possible Melbourne-based games.

Collingwood’s chief executive officer, Gary Pert, believes the 2009 fixture is positive for the club from a football and supporter perspective.

“The fixture is all about the supporters and the playing group,” Pert said.

“And from a football perspective playing 18 games in Melbourne and 14 games at the MCG is a good result.”

The team will play 14 games at the MCG and four games at the soon to be named Etihad Stadium, formerly Telstra Dome, and will travel interstate four times to take on Brisbane (round 4), West Coast (round 9), Sydney (round 12) and Adelaide (round 19).

“For our Victorian-based supporters, their highest priority is to have access to as many games as possible and for there to be strong free to air coverage which has been delivered in the 2009 fixture.”

The Magpies will host MCG blockbusters against Carlton (round 8), Essendon (round 14) and Hawthorn (round 16).

The AFL has also scheduled Collingwood to play St Kilda in a Monday night home game at Etihad Stadium in round seven.

The club will be a part of big away game fixtures against Geelong (round 3), Essendon (Anzac Day), Melbourne (Queen’s Birthday) and Richmond (round 20).
