The AFL has issued a press release on Thursday 18 February regarding the state of the ground at Etihad Stadium.

The AFL wishes to advise its turf consultants and the AFLPA have been in close contact with venue management at Etihad Stadium in the lead-up to this weekend’s two round one NAB Cup matches to be played at the ground.

AFL Ground Operations Manager Jill Lindsay said the group had mapped out a preparation program for the ground, following the recent AC/DC concerts, for tomorrow’s St Kilda / Collingwood match and Sunday’s Geelong Cats / North Melbourne game.

The ground will not be at its peak in regards to its visual presentation, after the concert stage and protection matting areas were removed, but the AFL’s turf consultants have reported on the stadium surface and are happy for the matches to proceed.

A program of turf replacement will begin after this weekend for the venue to be in peak condition for the remainder of the NAB Cup and the start of the 2010 Toyota Premiership Season.
