The Sydney Swans have launched their new membership campaign today, igniting the passion of Sydney fans with a call to “Get Your Blood Pumping’’ in 2012.
The new campaign builds on the passion Sydneysiders have for the club, with next year marking the Swans’ 30th year in the Harbour City.
The Swans are urging supporters to show their support and commitment by purchasing a membership package and being part of the team.
Chief Executive Andrew Ireland said the membership campaign focused on the unique experience of attending a Swans’ game in Sydney.
“There is nothing like the roar of the crowd, the sea of red and white and the feeling you get knowing you are part of the team,’’ Mr Ireland said.
“Our players and coaches are working hard in the pre-season and we believe they will be ready to once again get the fans’ blood pumping in 2012.
“We have long been a part of this city, it’s core to who we are, and this is expressed fittingly through how we have positioned the Sydney Swans for 2012 as ‘Sydney’s Passion’.’’
Mr Ireland said it was an historic and exciting year for AFL football in Sydney.
“We have been here for 30 years and we have built a very strong and loyal following. We want our many thousands of supporters to show their passion for the club by getting on board with us as the AFL moves into a new era with two teams in Sydney,’’ he said.
The Swans will play nine home games at the SCG in 2012, and two at ANZ Stadium. The club will also play an historic round one stand-alone game against the GWS Giants at ANZ Stadium on March 24.
With a strong membership base in Victoria, the Swans will play five games in Melbourne and one in Geelong.
Members have begun receiving personalised renewal packs which outline the benefits of being part of the Club, urging them to renew and get their blood pumping.
Swans coach John Longmire, in the midst of a busy pre-season campaign with the players, has urged fans to sign up for what he believes will be an exciting year in 2012.
“Under the leadership of our co-captains Adam Goodes and Jarrad McVeigh, our young guns are fast becoming AFL starts - we want you to be at the ground this season and show your passion for the Sydney Swans.’’
The Club’s popular ‘Nominate Your Mate’ program is also back, where members can sign up their friends and win some great prizes.
This year’s winner, Catherine Boundy, who convinced 13 of her friends to sign up as members of the Swans, won a trip to the AFL Grand Final as part of her prize for being this year’s top recruiter.
