FORMER Melbourne defender Nathan Carroll has nominated for the NAB AFL Draft, clearing the path for him to selected by St Kilda.

Carroll is one of the 43 delisted players who launched their draft nominations ahead of Wednesday's 2pm deadline.

One of the players not on the list is former Fremantle midfielder Josh Carr. The 28-year-old has been in training with his former club Port Adelaide and could still be picked up in the pre-season draft.

The same applies to ex-Demon Chris Johnson, who has been training with Carlton. Johnson, like former Port Adelaide forward Damon White, did not nominate for the national draft, but has until December 9 to nominate for the pre-season equivalent.

Discarded Brisbane Lion Colm Begley was not included on the list distributed by the League because of his international rookie status.

Robert Copeland, Jeff White, Adem Yze, Shane Birss, Brodie Holland and Cain Ackland seem to have conceded their AFL careers are over by not nominating for the draft.

Veterans Nick Davis, Damien Peverill and Kris Massie have thrown their hats into the ring in the hope of being picked up.
