Hutton has worked with the club for the past eight years in player development and welfare, and football administration.
Hutton will take over the position from James Fantasia (now with the Western Bulldogs) to plan and manage the activities of the SANFL Game Development Department, working closely with the AFL.
Power chief executive John James wished Hutton well in his new role.
“Although very disappointed to be losing David, we are really pleased for him and believe he will do a fantastic job as General Manager – Game Development with the SANFL,” James said.
“In the eight years David has been at the Power he has had a huge impact on the club in his role in player development and football administration. More than any he has touched people at all levels – be it players, staff, board, supporters and support staff – and he will certainly be missed.”
SANFL Executive Commissioner Leigh Whicker said it was important the SANFL lead the way in game development.
“It is vital that we drive initiatives in conjunction with the AFL and maximise participation across all sections of the community. At the same time we must identify and develop elite talent to progress through SANFL ranks to the AFL competition. David has the background and ability to ensure that this happens,” Whicker said.
Hutton will finish with the Power on Friday 8 February and take up his new role with the SANFL the following Monday.
