NICK Davis, Nathan Carroll, Leigh Brown and Danny Meyer are among the discarded players to have recently commenced training with clubs ahead of Saturday's NAB AFL Draft.

Davis, who was dumped by the Sydney Swans following an aborted attempt to trade him in last month's exchange period, has been training with the Brisbane Lions since the first raft of permissions were released by the League two weeks ago.

The 28-year-old is seeking his third home after stints with the Swans and Collingwood.

Former Kangaroo Brown has been running around at the Lexus Centre in the hope of being recruited to fill the defensive gap left by the retired Shane Wakelin.

Meyer, 22 and the No. 12 pick of the 2004 NAB AFL Draft, has commenced training with Hawthorn after being let go by Richmond, while colourful ex-Demon Carroll has been enjoying a summer hit-out with St Kilda.

The Saints, who will come under strong focus on Saturday should 2005 Brownlow Medallist Ben Cousins nominate for the draft, also have former Magpie Sam Iles, Irishman James Kielt and their own delisted player Brad Howard training with them.

As for the Hawks, they've invited a host of players to accompany Meyer including Haydn Kiel from the Brisbane Lions, plus familiar faces Alex Grima, Gary Moss, Hugh Sandilands and Matthew Suckling.

Port Adelaide has provided a temporary home for local boy and former Demon Jace Bode, Geelong's Jason Davenport, Brisbane Lion Chris Schmidt and a number of SANFL players.

Josh Carr has featured at Alberton this pre-season, hoping to re-join the club he left four years ago.

Essendon still has discarded midfielder Tom Hislop listed as training at Windy Hill, although football operations manager Paul Hamilton said last week that the union had ceased.
