FREMANTLE may be satisfied with the deal it secured for ruckman Robert Warnock to cross to Carlton, but its veteran midfielder Josh Carr is unlikely to be pleased with being left behind in trade negotiations.

Carr, 28, advised the club in late September he wanted to be traded back to his original club, Port Adelaide.

At the end of trade week talks on Friday, Warnock was a Blue and Fremantle had improved its picks in the NAB AFL Draft, but Carr remained with the purple haze having failed to be part of an agreement with the Power.

"Unfortunately the Josh Carr deal couldn't get through, and we'll have to go away now and have a chat about how that's affected us," list manager Chris Bond said.

Bond said Fremantle was pleased to have reached an agreement with Carlton over Warnock, with the club picking up selections 24, 56 and 72 in exchange for the ruckman and pick 69.

"Our strategy all along was just to make sure that we had a strong position in the draft and we've been able to do that now," he said.

"At the end of the day, we think what's been done is fair and reasonable. We were never going to go on pick 24 by itself."
